From Sorrento you can reach:

• Capri — 25-minute ferry, departs from Marina Piccola (15 min walk from centre)
• Positano — 50-minute ferry or 45-minute bus
• Amalfi — 1.5-hour ferry or 1-hour bus
• Pompeii — 30 minutes on the Circumvesuviana train
• Naples — 60 minutes on the Circumvesuviana

For most itineraries — especially those combining the coast with Naples and Pompeii — Sorrento is unquestionably the better base. You sleep well, pay less, and have everything within walking distance.

When to Book Your Sorrento B&B

Good B&Bs in Sorrento's historic centre fill up fast in summer. For July and August, booking 4–6 months in advance is not excessive — popular properties sell out by March.
